Willows Health Research

Willows Health Research, with a patient population exceeding 65,000 individuals across Leicestershire and Loughborough, stands as the largest primary care research group in the East Midlands.

With over 50% of our patients from ethnic minority backgrounds and our sites located across areas of varying economic prosperity in the two counties, our patient demographics uniquely position us to foster inclusive research participation. Our presence in diverse communities ensures equitable access to research opportunities for all, reflecting our commitment to representation within historically underrepresented populations.

As we continue our 7-year collaboration with the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), Willows Health Research proudly maintains an RSI Level 4 Leadership Status, a testament to our enduring commitment to academic research. Additionally, we take pride in our collaborations within commercial research, partnering with esteemed organizations such as AstraZeneca, GSK, and Sanofi.

Achievements

  • RSI Level 4 Leadership status

  • Recruited the first patient globally during AstraZeneca’s TACKLE study, during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
  • Randomised the first patient during AstraZeneca’s LOGOS study.
  • Long-standing 7-year relationship with NIHR.
  • Over 50% of our research engagement has been from ethnic minority patients in the 2023/2024 cycle.
