What our students say

I have felt extremely well supported over my 6 week placement with willows academy.

A.S and Dr. G made every effort to accommodate my preferences during this placement, allowing myself to gain the most out of the placement as possible. Arina especially was very approachable and understanding, and was willing to adapt my timetable as and when needed to best suit me. Overall, I am very satisfied with my SSC at Willows and would like the thank them for supporting me over the last 6 weeks.

5th year SSC students

I had a fantastic experience at Willows where the team was welcoming and the schedule well-organized. A.S. and R.K. made sure to include sessions we requested, and A.S. even dialed me into an induction when I couldn't attend in person. The GPs and locums were extremely knowledgeable; Dr. B's guidance, in particular, greatly improved my history-taking skills in a GP setting. We also had enriching sessions with N.E., R.P., Prof R., and Reena, which gave a rounded view of working in a GP practice beyond just consultations. The tutorials were top-notch, with Drs. G and K going above and beyond in directing us to valuable learning resources.

3rd year medical student

The scheduled teaching sessions were useful and relevant to the foundationship learning outcomes. I had a set week schedule which repeated throughout the block which was brilliant as it allowed me to build a working relationship with the 4 different GPs I was with, allowing me to gain more responsibilities as the block progressed. Everyone I met during this placement was kind and happy to help.

I have had a great clinical GP placement at Heatherbrook surgery.

I have found the reception staff very welcoming, and the practice manager M.D-S was always friendly, and willing to help me with everything! Dr R was very supportive, and allowed me to shadow and assist in his minor surgery clinic numerous times, even if there was other students! I really appreciated his help and advice, and all the opportunities given to me, as he boosted my confidence as a future clinician.

I very much enjoyed my time on placement, and would love to come back for my 2nd year GP placement. I also enjoyed attending Springfield health centre to shadow the PA N.E, and she was always happy to answer any clinical questions and take the time to explain things to me.

1st year physician associate student

The placement overall was very positive.

It was nice to have a friendly introduction online where we met the people that would be assisting us. It was also nice to rotate through different members of staff as well as observe minor surgery. This meant placement was always interesting and I managed to see different working methods. The staff I had the opportunity to shadow were all very friendly and all taught me something. In particular Dr B who was brilliant.

The placement was very well organised and it is also nice to know who I will be shadowing in advance (thank you for this). There is honestly nothing I would change. A brilliant placement.

1st year physician associate student

My final placement at Willows Academy was highly rewarding, filled with organized clinics and supportive staff. Dr. G stood out for his exemplary competence and professionalism, setting a standard I hadn't seen in my three years of clinical placements. Administrative leads A.S. and R.K. were incredibly understanding and efficient, particularly as we approached our final exams. They swiftly addressed our requests and deserve high commendation for their work. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better conclusion to my medical school journey, and I'm grateful to the entire team at Willows.
